POLICE are searching for a man who held-up a Windale newsagency with a hammer yesterday (Tuesday) morning.
The man, who was wearing a red hoodie and brandishing a hammer, entered the Lake Street store at 6.40am.
While demanding money from the store’s two female employees, the man smashed the hammer into the cash register.
After discovering the cash register could no longer be opened, the man searched behind the counter for scratch lottery tickets without success.
He fled the scene on a BMX bike towards James Street.
He is described as being between 20 to 25 years old, slim build and was wearing a long sleeve black jacket with grey pants.
