Two cars had to be towed away after a head-on collision in the main street of Exeter. Picture: NEIL RICHARDSONTRAFFIC through Exeter was slowed for an hour yesterday after a head-on smash in the main street.
Beaconsfield Police Constable Ashley Reinkowsky said the crash occurred about 1pm when a 76-year-old Exeter woman made a right turn to Frankford Road.
The woman collided head-on with a car travelling straight on the West Tamar Highway.
The female driver of that car was taken by ambulance to the Launceston General Hospital for observation but was not seriously injured.
Both cars had to be removed by tow-trucks.
State Emergency Service volunteers controlled the traffic flow and borrowed brooms from a nearby hardware store to clean up the road.
